People have this primitive interest in conflict. It’s embedded into everyone’s and every animal’s psyche. All animals duke it out for mates. People do this as well, even though we are civilized and more advanced. Battlefields are everywhere. The fields, forests, and deserts of the physical world, and the language used in the intellectual world.
Like war past the Renaissance time period, the intellectual battles of today follow certain rules and guidelines. Debates are supposedly structured so that everyone gets an equal amount of time and equal opportunity to rebuttal. A more ruthless arena is the field of “public perception”. This war is fought with selective information and members of society that have great influence speaking for other people in society that have great influence. Like debates, there are certain rules that the participants must abide by; however, that’s only for credibility’s sake. No one is stopping others from going out and just ruthlessly bashing somebody else for supporting something. You do that though, and your credibility goes nowhere but down. Cliched example, the dude who yelled “fire” in a movie theater when there was no fire. Not only did he get people killed, but nobody ever listened to him again. Candidates for the US President must abide by general unwritten guidelines too, including dressing nice no matter what the appearance, speaking eloquently, and keeping your jabs at others short and poignant, except for debates.
There seems to be a disturbing trend forming in the intellectual battlefields however; and that trend is the SuperPAC. Stephen Colbert is doing a great job at pointing out the trends, including; but not limited to, deferred foreclosure of donations. The worst thing though is they have no credibility right out of the gate. SuperPACs can be formed at a whim, take millions of dollars, and use those donations to make just the most nasty, slanted, propagandized material this side of the early twentieth century. Seriously! There is supposed to be no formal link between presidential candidates and SuperPACs (and Campaign for Liberty supporters/members will make a VERY CLEAR delineation of this; to the point that Campaign for Liberty material being published with candidate material is frowned upon), but you can’t help but get this intrinsic feeling that at the highest levels; there has to be some connection. This supposed non-connection can be twisted and used in ways that are dangerous to public perception. For one, presidential candidates do NOT have to approve anything a SuperPAC comes out with; since there’s that separation. Also, SuperPACs are NOT subject to the donation limits that campaigns are, because they’re not tied to the candidate. This means anyone (including corporations) can give anything. The trend is the SuperPAC with the biggest number in the checkbook usually winds up having the most public influence. Gingrich got mad after Romney’s SuperPAC slammed him. It was a well-timed attack too; just before the Iowa Caucus. As a result, Gingrich lost a fair percentage of votes from Iowa pre-Caucus to the final results (writer’s note: I think this is a great thing), link will be updated when I can find concrete numbers.
Solution:
The solution is rather simple, and one I’m sure you heard repeated time and time again; from your friends to that crazy old guy that used to be on Fox News. Look at the issues. Look to principle. Don’t get caught up in the attacks. Don’t stay fixated on how one candidate can just absolutely smash on another one. Look at each candidate’s history and cast your vote for the one that represents the stances you take on various societal issues. It really is that simple. This solution has two effects. One; your vote is more honest. If your views are reflected the most accurately by that whack-job Libertarian in the ten-gallon hat, scribble his name down! This destroys the concept of a wasted vote, as you voted on principle. Two; how do you get bullies to stop bullying you? You either fight back, or ignore them. These SuperPACs, just like bullies, are looking for a reaction. Don’t give it to them! Nothing would be more insulting than a group of people spending millions to get absolutely no reaction.
You may think I’m joking; but I’m actually quite serious. There were certain events during the caucus that made me scratch my head at the least.
First off, on the procedure itself; it actually went quite smooth. The presidential selection was pretty straight-forward; a speaker or speakers would make the case for the candidates they would want to see win, then a secret ballot was cast, quite literally a little piece of paper in some of the rural districts (and a slip for the urban districts) was passed to each participant, they wrote their choice down, and put it in the box. The results were counted and splashed onto your favorite propaganda channel. The delegate selection was relatively peaceful too since most people left after the presidential selection, and only up to roughly 20 people in the most densely populated districts stuck it out for delegate selection. These are the hardest-core of the hardcore. They know their stuff, and are the people you all should aspire to be. The system may be rotten now; but we can change it systematically if we put the effort into it. However, I strongly caution those that are reading this; your caucus results will very. Each state puts their own little spin on the general rules, so you should probably call your head organizers to get the details. The only thing that made me scratch my head on Iowa’s spin is the same-day party and voter registration. Anybody could march in with a couple of pieces of paper and declare themselves to be Republican. This has several implications that I will not list here to hinder the aide of enemies. For some grassroots perspective you can look at this map powered by Google Maps and news aggregation.
The poll counting was a bit sketchy to me, the local radio stations claimed that some of the super-small districts physically lost the votes; but I find this hard to believe as 100% of the districts were counted. It took until 1:30 AM the following morning to solidify all the results.
The results are definitely interesting in my opinion. These things tend to flip all the time and we’ll know the main contenders as the political ballgame progresses toward general elections. Just remember, in recent history; those who took third or fourth in Iowa usually wound up in the hot-seat. If you’re a Ron Paul fan, just hang on. If the opposition gets louder, you must get more ridiculous. On another hand, the press is now talking about him, where in 2008 it was a complete establishment game.
I would like to take a paragraph to talk about the “establishment” candidates for a minute. If you’re disinterested in this, feel free to move to the next one. Despite still taking first (by 8 votes), this year was actually quite the loser for Romney. Why is that? Despite dumping more money into his campaign, and having less Evangelical selections to make, Romney stagnated, meaning more people moved away from him. Analysts say the people of Iowa are tied heavily to their religion, and tend to include it as an influence for making a decision. Presumably, some of these people moved to Ron Paul, but most of the people moved on to Rick Santorum, who “true” Republicans and Evangelicalists wish to identify with the most (this movement was dubbed the “Santorum Surge”). Newt Gingrich was mad as usual and is now pulling out all the stops in biting political campaign ads, starting the morning of the caucus; calling Mitt Romney a liar. Gingrich finished off at a distant fourth, 7 points behind Ron Paul (trailing behind by roughly 10,000 votes). You may have heard that Bachmann dropped the race. Being polled, most Bachmann supporters supported Ron Paul second, so the numbers may work for Paul in the future. Don’t bet on it for New Hampshire though. Why? Because the entire northeast area tends to have a very pro-establishment view. What does all this mean? It’s pretty much a slap-fight from here. Who wants an in-depth analysis of New Hampshire’s primary debate? I can give it to you right now!
The New Hampshire primaries should prove to be intensely predictable.

This bill would have assisted homeowners in preventing the loss of their homes due to mortgage foreclosure. After the Fed handed out trillions in low mortgage rate loans to high risk taking financial institutions – S.61 was shot down in congress before it ever made it to the floor. Big finance YES – middle class homeowner – NO. Overall Mr Walsh received over $125,000 from Securities & Investment Firms and Insurance companies – his largest donors. For a Tea Party populist, he sure likes the banks and the insurance companies.

The story about his child support issues are well known. Mr Walsh claims that he had low income and had temporary housing stewardship of one the children during the disputed time. These are facts which can be easily verified. Did Mr Walsh have a court order to pay – if so did he make the payments? Apparently he was ordered and did not pay. Mr Walsh can (and is likely) making the argument that the payments shouldn’t have been as high as they were because of the issues above detailed – he might be right in that regard. Mr Walsh states that over $2K a month is being automatically garnished from his account (sad that a sitting US congressman has to be made to pay support via garnishment). It appears that there was a time that he was either ordered to pay or did not sufficiently have enough overnights to be considered shared custodial and was assessed the known $117K in arrears. Also, there seems to be at least once where he failed to appear at a hearing. It appears that he is in process of trying to lower that assessed figure (if he hasn’t already) while paying off the figure he owes. Usually, when a non-custodial parent is in arrears a judge will increase the monthly in attempt to accelerate repayment.
In any event, $117K is a rather large figure to be in arrears for. One has to surmise that for some period of time Mr Walsh did not make support payments to his ex-wife. Even giving him the benefit of the doubt the period of time in which he failed to pay support could probably be measured in years.
If he got a verbal agreement with his ex-wife over support – then it’s his own fault for not getting the agreement signed and filed with the court. Also if he did make payments outside a state disbursement unit and failed to save the cancelled checks – that’s also a measure of irresponsibility.
Any responsible father knows that child support must be paid if you are not the custodial parent. Whether or not you get along with the mother is not a consideration. I think constituents can reasonably come to the conclusion that at least for some extended period of time Joe Walsh did not make child support payments and was a deadbeat dad – verbal agreement or no.

introducing a bill that would overturn NIH Public Access Policy, and forbid the government
from mandating that federally funded research be made freely available to the public.
Critics assert that Conyers has been influenced by publishing houses who have contributed
significant money to Conyers.

Conyers’ wife, Monica, a former President pro tempore of the Detroit City Council,
pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit bribery in June 2009. This is punishable
by up to five years in prison; in March 2010 she was sentenced to 37 months imprisonment,
followed by two years supervised probation.
On June 16, 2009, the United States Attorney’s Office said that two Synagro Technologies
representatives had named Monica Conyers as the recipient of bribes from the company totaling
more than $60,000, paid to influence passage of a contract with the City of Detroit. The information
was gathered during an FBI investigation into political corruption in the city. She was given a
pre-indictment letter, and offered a plea bargain deal in the case. On June 26, 2009,
she was charged with conspiring to commit bribery. She pleaded guilty. On March 10, 2010 she was
sentenced to 37 months in prison, and also received two years of supervised probation. She is appealing
the sentence. She began serving her term on September 10, 2010 at a minimum-security camp in
Alderson, West Virginia

All I heard last night was MORE WAR, now with Iran.
I’ve reflected on this a lot. I’m not going to go into detail right now because I don’t have time, but I plan on putting my thoughts down on paper later.
Sometimes, I think we may be looking at this too closely to be able to see the big picture, and are forgetting the events of the last 50 years as well as the 100 years before that, and also what consequences that any action we undertake now will have over the course of the next several decades.
All of these things need to be taken into consideration…and not just the current passions of the moment. This is why I agree with Paul, because he IS looking at the big picture and not just his 4 year term as President. How did we get here? Do we bear any responsibility? Is there anything we could change that would alter the course of history and avoid war?
Iran has been sitting on the table and listed as an ‘imminent’ threat since at least circa 1995 in various Washington think-tanks populated by a number people who ended up in the Bush administration that pushed us into Iraq.
This matter deserves an open debate before Congress and if found to be a legitimate threat to our national security, then a declaration of war.
I am not for a brand new Executive bound from the get-go to war. ——–

First of all, allow me to sincerely apologize for the near venomous stings and attacks that our mainstream media (which I may make a career in, but I will not brainlessly regurgitate their stories) has inflicted upon you. The last lady that claimed to be harassed was proven to be a lesbian. Nobody will truly know if all the “women” that lined up and said they were harassed by you were telling the truth. It’s a very polarizing issue, of course the attacker is not going to jump out there and say, “I did it!” unless an inhumane amount of pressure is applied to them. Also, in the case of sexual harassment, the women are somehow more believable than men. Don’t ask me why, something natural I guess. Anyway, combine these aspects with a one-sided media and you have a huge batch of poison gumbo; ready to be dished out to a populous starving for this garbage. In terms of media mind-management, they have won. Don’t beat yourself up, this is someone else’s doing.
In your downfall however; you have single-handedly saved the future of what is perceived as “right” or “Republican” for sure and perhaps, the future of this nation. How? By throwing your support behind Ron Paul. Paul does not just throw up a bunch of rhetoric and run like the rest of the candidates. He has over 30 years of legislation under the rhetoric supporting his position. All the opponents are too progressive for those who are paying attention; and let’s face it, those that pay attention can warn those that aren’t, and influence them. Also, in particular to the changing primaries for our state (Missouri) this election season; you have boosted the Ron Paul numbers, something very important in the Caucus system. Granted, I’m not expecting your entire fan base to assimilate into the Ron Paul crowd, but you had a significant base; even if it wasn’t reported on most of the time. If just 60% of your fan base in Missouri were to flood the Caucus for Ron Paul this season, in tandem with the Ron Paul crowd joining in, we’re fairly certain the Republicans of Missouri will choose Ron Paul for the candidate in 2012.
It may seem that I believe electing Ron Paul is the sure ticket to getting all the garbage the 20th century academics wedged through Congress back in the early 1900s erased. I know this is naive, and it will take WAY more than just this to get back to our roots. It will take electing like-minded Congresspeople, like-minded people in the state, county, and city governments, and a change of psychology in the American public to get back to where we were. Remember, the national debt and the federal debt are two different things (as a matter of fact, the federal debt is a part of the national debt). I believe this can happen, and I may get to see the innovation and spark that drove us in our heydays. In order to get there, we need different policies and money flow. Getting Ron Paul into the Oval Office is a great start, however, and I would consider any pro-freedom individual to look into Ron Paul’s platform, ask his big supporters a few questions, and most of all; keep asking why the media keeps him in the dark! Seriously, there has to be a reason.

It’s not only governments that track where you are. Private companies do it too; and sometimes they work together.
We all heard the people out there that do not like Facebook’s privacy policy (or website changes), or Google’s Adsense policies which tailor advertising to your browsing habits and search history, which require tracking. The difference with that stuff is; you have to voluntarily feed them information. Google will not track your browsing or search history until you either sign up for a Google Account or use Google Chrome. When you sign up for Facebook, you don’t HAVE to fill in all the fields. They make it very blatant that they use the info you give them for advertising purposes. That is not the case with the new hidden software found in Google’s Android smartphone operating system, labelled Carrier IQ. The link given is to the Verge’s live updating story line, where each update pertaining to this new-found software appears. We advise following it.
Carrier IQ was first discovered by a member of the XDA developer forums, a forum for software development geeks. He (or she) found some code being loaded at the kernel level, which is the lowest level software can go. It’ s what’s called a “Kernel Module” and it allows the software to be loaded before your phone reaches the lock screen. It’s part of the initial loading process. This means that the software starts tracking stuff the minute you unlock your phone. Carrier IQ acts as middleware to assist carriers and manufacturers in tracking mobile user habits. The company responsible for the software never has stated that it does not track user data, but this video proves otherwise. The forum member that found the software got cease-and-desist letters from the company responsible; but he has yet to stop.
Carrier IQ has also been found on the iPhone, but it is switched off by default and turning on Location Services does not turn it on. It seems to be mainly just a diagnostics assistant, and the diagnostics tool on iOS does not collect personal data. Also, all devices designed in partnership with Google do not use the Carrier IQ software, meaning the Google Nexus, Nexus S, and Galaxy Nexus do not use it; as well as the original Motorola Xoom.
